Jim Celone, CSCA President
Jim is a graduate of Yale University and holds a MS in Statistics. He currently teaches Calculus and Statistics at University of New
Haven and Gateway CC. He is a USCF Certified Chess Coach and Senior Tournament Director, president of the CT State Chess Association, and
coached the chess team at West Haven High School, winning the Connecticut State HS Championship 10 times in 1997, 1999 - 2007, and the 2004
U1500 National High School Chess Championship. He runs local elementary school chess programs and tournaments in the Greater New Haven

Charles "CJ" Gregory, CSCA Secretary
CJ was captain of the 2005 CT. State Championship Team, and is currently CSCA Secretary and a senior chess
instructor for Edutech.
Gert Hilhorst, CSCA Treasurer
In 2000 Gert moved from Amsterdam to the US.
He is involved in scholastic chess programs in his home town Simsbury.
Gert is an active player at NBCC as well as two other clubs in the Netherlands and Germany.
In 1962 Bob Milardo won the CT state scholastic championship. Back then, there was ONE trophy for whole state.
It is made of wood and is about 6 inches tall.
He has played in and for the New Britain Chess Club for 40+ years.
During the 80's and 90's he was CT's Delegate to the USCF (traveling all over the US -at his own expense).
He still serves as a CSCA director.
Norman is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering.
He currently teaches physics at Hall High School, in West Hartford, where he resides and runs several scholastic programs.
He is the President and chief TD of the New Britain Chess Club, a USCF Local Tournament Director,
and an active tournament player and organizer of both scholastic and adult tournaments.
He was elected to the Board of the CSCA in 2016.
Derek became USCF National Master at age 50 in 2011.
Won $20,000 at the 1st Millionaire in 2014.
Officer of NBCC since 2009.

Jan van de Mortel
Jan is a chess teacher, organizer and tournament director from Mansfield.
In 2006 FIDE awarded him the IM title.
Bob is NBCC historian (2005 - present) and lifetime NBCC,
NBCC vice president from 2003-2010,
USCF local tournament director (directing since 1998),
NBCC member since 1987.
Senior accountant at Women's Health CT in Avon.
MBA and BS Accounting from Central Connecticut State University.
Directed a chess club at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain during the late 1990s
